About Counselling

I offer a safe place for people to talk through any difficulties they may have.

I work in an affirming way, who you are is okay with me. I understand that most people are trying to do the best they can, often in challenging circumstances, or with complicated histories. I will listen without judgement to your story and be alongside you whilst you work out your best way forward. My approach is based on the work of Carl Rogers who believed that all individuals have within them the resources for growth and change. I will not tell you what to do, and I also will not hold to myself information which might be helpful for you. I provide a space for you to explore all aspects of your experience. I do not direct you about what to talk about or try to analyse you. I value you as a whole person when counselling and I aim to build a trusting, genuine relationship based on unconditional acceptance.

My hope is that within this therapeutic relationship you are able to gain insight into your problems and difficulties and make changes you want for yourself.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor. I qualified with a Higher National Diploma in Counselling and have been in practice since 2006. Over the years I have attended many workshops that have informed my practice and consequently keep my knowledge current. I abide by the guidelines set out in the BACP's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

In accordance with ethical practice, I hold full professional liability insurance and I receive regular counselling supervision.
